Hundreds of Companies Interested in Dutch Licenses

Netherlands newspaper De Telegraaf has revealed that more than two hundred different betting firms are reportedly interested in obtaining a Dutch gaming license once the country liberalizes its online betting market.

The revelation comes a few months after the Dutch gaming regulator Kansspelautorieit allowed online gaming firms to register their interest in potentially obtaining a betting license. The regulator says that interest is high given the high amount of gambling occurring on un-regulated sites. It is currently estimated that more than €250-800 million is wagered illegally in the country each year. These operators have the vision of operating within the rules of the Dutch authorities and providing a safe and regulated platform for players.
