Sheldon Adelson Pushing For Casino Expansion in Florida
The CEO of the Las Vegas Sands, Sheldon Adelson has been pushing for the land based gambling laws in Florida to be changed as he wants to build a family friendly casino resort in the state.
However, Sheldon Adelson will first of all have to get past Disney. The Walt Disney World resort in Orlando had over 18.6 million visitors throughout 2013, and they will not want any other resorts competing with them. Disney made more money than Las Vegas Sands last year; however, they paid less tax, as they are not part of the gambling market.
Presently, laws in the state of Florida only allow for eight land based Native American run casinos, and 31 different pari-mutuel betting shops.
