Two South African National Gambling Board Members Resign

Last year, the entire South African National Gambling Board was suspended while an in-depth investigation could be carried out in regards to claims of corruption, wasteful spending and maladministration.

The investigators should be releasing their findings by the end of the month; however, two members of the Board have since allegedly resigned.  Linda de Vries, Chairperson and her deputy, Nana Magomola have both protested their innocence of any wrongdoings.  However, they commented to the press that they cannot afford the legal costs to contest their suspension.

The Department of Trade and Industry wishes to bring the National Gambling Board under their strict control, and it is currently being run by two administrators of their choosing.
