Pragmatic Play Strategic Shift to Slots and Live Casino

Pragmatic Play, a prominent provider in the online gambling industry, has initiated a strategic pivot aimed at consolidating its core strengths. As part of this tactical shift, the Gibraltar-based company plans to gradually phase out its sportsbook, bingo, and virtual sports offerings. Instead, Pragmatic Play intends to allocate more resources to slots, live casino, crash games, and RNG products.

The company reached this decision after conducting an internal strategic review, as a spokesperson revealed. "Following a strategic review, we have made the decision to focus on our core market-leading verticals – in particular, slots, live casino, crash, and RNG. These areas continue to demonstrate strong performance and represent the company's primary long-term strategic focus."

To support its partners during this transition, Pragmatic Play will work diligently with them over the coming months to ensure a seamless migration to alternate platforms. During this period, partners will receive assistance as they transition from bingo and sportsbook products to other options.

Emphasizing Long-Term Growth in Strategic Areas

Having launched its bingo platform in 2018 and entered the sportsbook market in 2022, Pragmatic Play initially sought to diversify its portfolio beyond slots. Since the company's inception in 2015, its slot offerings have become a driving force in its growth, with additional expansions into live casino, virtual sports, bingo, and sportsbook catering to the full content needs of operators.

Contrary to any suggestions of underperformance, the decision to discontinue certain products was grounded in a management strategy to concentrate on areas where Pragmatic Play already holds a commanding market presence. The sportsbook and bingo sections, despite achieving distribution through existing relationships, were assessed as having more limited growth potential compared to the casino-focused verticals.

Live casino, in particular, has been identified as a central pillar of future growth for Pragmatic Play. As regulated markets expand, demand for localized live dealer content has been increasing, making live casino pivotal to the company's long-term plans.

Earlier this year, at the ICE conference, Chief Revenue Officer Mark Maislish confirmed that Pragmatic Play intends to augment its live casino operations by opening two more studios. These would follow the recent launch of their Bogotá, Colombia facility in October 2025.

Concentrating Resources on Expanding Core Verticals

Despite scaling back from sportsbook, bingo, and virtual sports, Pragmatic Play is not pulling back on its overall aspirations. Instead, it is redirecting resources to bolster its core verticals, enhancing slot offerings and live dealer content. The company remains committed to nurturing product development, enhancing its international studio networks, and tailoring localization initiatives to expand within regulated markets.

Slots remain a cornerstone of Pragmatic Play's portfolio, recognized for their leading performance in the industry. This continued investment will fortify their presence in these key sectors, ensuring sustained growth and success.

As Pragmatic Play moves forward with this refined strategic direction, they will work harmoniously with partners to deliver innovative gaming experiences tailored to market-specific demands.
