Last week not one, but two different influential newspapers both wrote pieces publicly denouncing the need for internet gambling bans in the United States of America.

As with buying lottery tickets, the decision to gamble online ought to be left up to individuals. Its regulation ought to be decided by the states, not Congress - and certainly not by a casino magnate.

Michelle Minton, Competitive Enterprise Institute

The Spartanburg Herald Journal and The Washington Post believe that online gambling can be successfully regulated, due the fact that it has been done by other countries for years.  They also pointed out that there have been few negative consequences for these countries and that by banning it completely in America would cause players to move into unregulated sites where they could be taken advantage of.

Michelle Minton from the Competitive Enterprise Institute in Washington also pointed out that The Palazzo and The Venetian in Las Vegas have mobile gaming apps that allow their patrons to make sporting bets when they are in Nevada using their smartphones.  These are sites operated by Sheldon Adelson and just go to show his hypocrisy.
