Study Shows No Rise In Problem Gambling in U.S.A.
The University of Buffalo’s Research Institute on Addictions has recently published a study showing that there has been no rise in problem gambling in the United States of America over a ten-year period.
The Senior Research Scientist, John W. Welte, compared the results of a telephone survey around gambling conducted ten years apart. Between 1999 and 2000, they surveyed 2,613 people and compared the results to the 2,963 people they surveyed between 2011 and 2013.
The survey asked about a large range of gambling activities, and the researchers found that even though there were now more revenues for people to gamble, the amount of problem gamblers had not risen.
