Chinese Officials Punished for Illegal Gambling

The Shanghai Daily newspaper reported that thousands of different government officials have been named and shamed for illegally gambling in their country.  

In total 7,162 government officials were punished for gambling.  They were from over 30 different cities and provinces, and their punishments included warnings and administrative penalties.

In a couple of cases, some government officials also went on to steal millions of Yuan from public funds to help pay for their gambling addiction. 

This latest development goes to show that Chinese government is serious in enforcing their anti-corruption campaign.
