South African Gambling Board Suspension Explained

The South African Minister, Rob Davis has at last broken his silence regarding the suspension of the entire Gambling Board in South Africa six weeks ago.  Davis was called to explain his decision to an annoyed parliamentary committee who have been enquiring about the issue for over six weeks.

In a written statement, Davis said that an audit of the department highlighted allegations of corrupt activities, wasteful spending and maladministration.  The results of the audit led to the entire department being suspended until a forensic investigation could be carried out into the actions of the board.
