China’s High Rollers Look Elsewhere
High roller gamblers in China have been leaving Macau and heading to Las Vegas and Manila to enjoy some land based gambling.
Chinese police in Macau have been cracking down on corruption and extravagance in the gambling capital of China after the anti-extravagance campaign launched in late 2012. The new rules have led to many gamblers heading abroad over the last couple of months. However, this hasn’t yet affected their gambling revenues, which are still seven times larger than Las Vegas.
Macau has noticed that some of their VIP players are now playing elsewhere and have instead shifted their focus to attracting mass market cash betting gamblers instead.
