Diverse Casino Game Trends Across European Markets
The availability of online casino games throughout Europe shows significant variation, as reflected in the diverse gaming preferences of each country's market. According to data compiled by Blask as of August 24, 2026, only two games managed to secure a spot among the top 30 titles across six key European markets: the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, and the Netherlands. These games, namely Play’n GO’s Book of Dead and Legacy of Dead, are not determined by popularity measured by player demand but by the percentage of operators offering these titles, a metric known as brand coverage.
Play'n GO's Dominance Across European Markets
In terms of brand coverage, Book of Dead achieved significant presence, especially in the Netherlands with a 49% coverage, and made it into the top 30 in other regions, including a 46% coverage in the UK, 37% in Italy, 31% in Germany, 47% in Spain, and 23% in France.
Similarly, Legacy of Dead was visible in all six markets, with coverage ranging from 19% in France to 40% in the Netherlands, 39% in both the UK and Spain, 32% in Italy, and 29% in Germany.
According to Andrew Pink, head of brand and communication at Play’n GO, the broad reach of these titles is attributed to strong player recognition and long-term performance. Pink emphasized, “'Book of Dead and Legacy of Dead have earned their place through a combination of strong player recognition, proven long-term performance, and the trust we’ve built with operators over many years. While trends come and go, operators continue to value content with a demonstrated ability to engage players sustainably across regulated markets.'”
He also noted the need to interpret brand coverage statistics within the unique regulatory frameworks of each nation, pointing out that Play'n GO derives no revenue from France since it lacks a regulated iGaming market.
Market-Specific Leaders and Slot Trends
In contrast to Play'n GO's consistent market presence, other games show varied rankings. Big Bass Splash by Reel Kingdom leads in the UK, Germany, and Spain with coverage figures of 58.1%, 49.0%, and 73.5% respectively, the latter being the highest recorded for any country. Its position fluctuates elsewhere, ranking seventh in the Netherlands and tenth in Italy, though it doesn’t make the top 30 in France.
Italy’s top game was Gates of Olympus Super Scatter by Pragmatic Play with 53.2%, while France favored "Lightning Roulette" by Evolution at 34.7%. Slots seem to dominate the landscape, with 148 out of the 180 ranked positions across all countries. Germany tops this list having 29 out of 30 top titles as slots, followed closely by the Netherlands with 28, Italy with 27, the UK with 26, and Spain with 25.
However, France differs markedly, with only 13 slots in its top rankings and showing a preference for live and crash titles like Lightning Roulette, Aviator and Baccarat. Furthermore, Pragmatic Play appears prominently across the board with a presence in 60 instances of the rankings, representing a third of all entries, while Play’n GO continues its universal presence by appearing 16 times across different regions.
