NetEnt And ReelPlay To Protect IP Rights

Online casino slots developers NetEnt and ReelPlay are to protect the Intellectual Property rights of similar features. NetEnt created the InfiniReels mechanism and ReelPlay developed their Infinity Reels systems at around the same time. Both parties have agreed to work together to protect the rights of each format, avoiding any confusion, or potential for disagreement.

Two Systems

The InfiniReels system from NetEnt adds extra reels to a game, increasing the number of winning ways. ReelPlay's Infinity Reels mechanism does the same, with respins and multipliers. Now that the developers have agreed to strengthen the IP rights of each franchise, both can launch their own games at online and mobile casino sites.

ReelPlay launched El Dorado Infinity Reels at the end of 2019, with Giza Infinity Reels following in April 2020. Odin Infinity Reels is set for launch in June of this year.

The first InfiniReels slot from NetEnt will debut on 14th May, 2020, when Gods of Gold InfiniReels hits the market.

Thanks to the new agreement, all games can proceed without an issue of overlap.

“In light of both companies independently following similar ideas, it made sense for us to come together to reinforce our unique propositions in a highly competitive market. I would like to commend and thank ReelPlay for their innovative approach.''

Bryan Upton, NetEnt Director of Games
