Samurai Girl is for all the fans of anime and Japanese video games. Developed by Ganapati it features everything punters might want from an offering like that.
Cute anime girls with big swords, yes. Samurai zombies? Of course. Post-apocalyptic Tokyo? Did you even have to ask?
But when you throw in some very exciting and in-depth special features, that’s when you get something all players might enjoy.
A samurai girl stands in front of a chain-link fence surveying the wasteland in front of her. She is Chiaki, the last of the Kagura family and the owner of the legendary Masamune Kagura katana.
Her mission is to send the zombie samurai and their fearsome leader Shogun back to their graves.
Ganapati has given this game a backstory worthy of a manga.
The graphics are appropriately grimy and gritty. The medium paying symbols are Japanese Kanji characters but the high paying ones are all gruesome zombies from beyond the grave.
Everything is presented in high resolution and there are animations and effects for everything that happens on screen. A particular highlight is a dynamic zoom in effect when the third scatter symbol is about to land.
Samurai Girl is a 5x3 game with 20 fixed paylines. The best players can stake on a single spin go from 20 cents to 50 euros.
Autoplay is offered with some detailed advanced functions and the ability to spin infinitely (until the balance allows it).
The return to player on this offering is 95%, a little lower than most are used to these days.
Ganapati has packed this slot to the brim with special features and bonus games, and it’s really the strong point of the whole experience.
First off:
There is a random bet multiplier that ups the winning up to 4 times triggered during the normal game. It’s indicated by a zombie staggering across the reels and the samurai slashing at him.
The extra spins on offer here are more involved than in an average game. The scatter symbol (a red siren light) will award them but there is an extra component in play.
During the normal game special “zombie souls” will appear and fill a segment of the sword at the bottom of the screen. Once it’s filled, the next time extra spins trigger it will instead be…
…a boss battle! The dreadful Shogun will appear and attack Chiaki. Both have three health points and the feature ends when one of them loses. The outcome is decided by a pick game.
Players will either hit the boss or miss. In any case, each pick will award extra spins or a cash prize.
This is a full featured game with great graphics and very in-depth special features. Fans of Japanese media will especially enjoy the design and the look of the game.
For everyone else, it’s a still a solid offering and worth a spin.
