Humpty Dumpty might seem like a nursery rhyme that doesn't have that much of a story to it, but it has enough for Push Gaming to have developed a slot around it that has a great look and solid gameplay. The visual style used here is atypical for online slots, and it seems more like something out of a hand-drawn Disney movie from back before everything was drawn on computers. This unique style for slots carries the game quite a bit in terms of how visually pleasing it is, and it definitely contributes to the overall experience in a big way.

Game Format

Push Gaming (read more) has used a pretty standard format for this game, and it uses five reels, three rows and 25 paylines. Betting is a little atypical in this game, however, since you'll either click or tap a box that brings up a selection of various bet sizes per spin. Instead of picking out a coin size, you're picking out the total amount for the spin itself. This ranges from $0.25 to $100 per turn, and this corresponds to if you were playing with coins that ranged from $0.01 to $4 each. Since the paylines are fixed, you can't play for less than $0.25 per turn.

Regular Wins

The pay table for Humpty Dumpty is based on ten regular-paying symbols. At the top end of things is the king, and he pays 500x for five, 200x for four and 100x for three. It's pretty cool to see a win as large as 100x for three of a kind, because that's fairly atypical. The queen pays 300x for five, 100x for four and 50x for three, which are also sizable payouts. The guard in red on the purple background gives players the same 300x-100x-50x payout structure as the queen. In addition to that, you can pick up 150x for five of a kind of the horse or the peasant girl.

The A, K, Q, J and 10 symbols round off the bottom end of the pays, and they have three distinct payout levels. The first is just for the red A symbol, and that awards 100x for five. For the purple K or blue Q symbols, you'll earn 80x for five of a kind on an activated payline. Finally, there are wins of 50x for five of the teal J or green 10 symbol.

Wilds and Scatters

The wild in this game is the golden banner with two spoons on it, which is pretty funny considering it's an inside joke about nursery rhymes. Humpty Dumpty himself is the scatter, and he is also the source of the free spins bonus feature, though you get it in a somewhat atypical way.

On the middle reel, you'll see a Humpty Dumpty symbol that's three spots tall. If that entire three-spot symbol covers the reels, then you'll get a set of six free spins. These free spins give you a bit more value than others because of a heart collecting feature. The way this feature works is that you get to collect heart symbols as they appear on each reel. As soon as a reel collects three hearts during the feature, it turns completely wild for the rest of the free spins that you have to go. Picking up just a couple of these would make it a whole lot easier to hit multi-line wins and the big five of a kind payouts.

Falling Wilds Re-spin Feature

Another feature that affects regular gameplay in this slot (read more here) is the falling wilds re-spin feature. If you get wilds on the reels, you can pick up a re-spin feature where the reels will spin multiple times while the wild creeps off of the board to give you more wins. This is a cool way to add more value to the game overall.

Overview

The graphics, the payout structure and the features of this game are all great. However, we do have one major complaint about the gameplay: This game can be painfully slow. For some reason, they've decided it's a good idea to let the reels spin for several seconds between spins with no "stop" option to speed up the action, and if there was an option to speed up the game itself, then we couldn't find it. That's the only problem we have with this game, but it might be a deal breaker for some, which is a real shame because this is a pretty good game otherwise.
