The all-ways format for online slots works by making every symbol into a left-to-right scatter. This means a standard 5x3 game will have 243 ways to win, and through that's not the same thing as 243 paylines, it still provides for a lot of action. When you use the all-ways format with an atypical layout, however, you can get some really action-packed experiences, and that's the case with the Super 6 online slot. This game uses six reels instead of the usual five, and it drives the gameplay in a major way.

Format and Layout

When you load up this game, you'll see six reels and three rows of action. This game uses the all-ways format, which means that you have 729 ways to win overall. Betting is based on sets of 30 coins, and the coins themselves start at the $0.01 level. However, the betting option is based purely on the total bet size per spin for the sake of clarity. The available bet sizes run from $0.30 per spin, which is perfect for penny players, all the way up to a whooping $150 per turn, which works well for super high rollers.

Coins Wild Symbols

On the second, third, fourth and fifth reels, you'll find the coins symbols. They show up in groups, and they will substitute as a wild for anything but the scatter symbols. What's more is that getting at least one of these in a winning combination will give you twice the size of the payout, so you can imagine that this is the source of a tremendous amount of value in this game.

Payout Schedule

There are a total of nine regular paying symbols in this game. Six of the man pays 2,000x with a wild and 1,000x without, which are the largest wins in the game. Six of the dragon with a wild also pays 1,000x, but without a wild, it's 500x. The red envelope pays 300x for six of a kind (600x with a wild) as well. These are some pretty solid top-end payouts, and it's pretty easy to see how a player could run up some multi-line wins that were pretty substantial between the grouped wilds and the all-ways format.

The koi fish pay 500x for six with a wild (250x without a wild), as do the lucky rabbit emblems. The fireworks and scrolls both pay 400x for six with a wild (200x without), and the lantern and fan pay 300x for six with a wild, which drops to 150x without the wild in the combination. Even the lower end payouts are pretty solid for six of a kind wins, and this shows that the game has a solid combination of a high hit-rate and solid payouts on all levels, which is perfect for establishing a balanced volatility.

Scatters and Bonus Features

The letters and number that spell out "Super 6" are the scatters, and they pay when three or more show up anywhere on the reels. You'll score 30 times your total bet size if you get six of a kind, but you can also get free spin bonus features with these symbols. The exact symbols you get determine what kind of features you get, and there are several variations on that theme. We're going to cover the basic concepts that drive the choice behind these features here so that you have an idea of how it works, but make sure to reference the pay table if you want to get into the super specifics.

The fundamental idea is that you need to get at least four scatters on the reels to activate a feature, and the details of the feature are determined by how many of those scatters were on the same row. Four scatters earns eight free spins, and you can get grouped wilds, 5x multipliers or extra wilds based on scoring two, three or four scatters grouped together on the left or right.

With scatters, you get 12 free spins with a 5x multiplier, extra wilds or extra grouped wilds. Players who get six of a kind pick up 25 free spins with a 2x multiplier and extra grouped wilds along with chances for 5x multipliers, extra wilds and other goodies. If you get all six on the same row, the middle two reels turn completely wild for every free spin, and you get lots of extra wilds and grouped wilds on the other spins for what could really turn out to be one of the biggest available winning streak opportunities that Realtime Gaming has to offer in any of their current titles.

Overview

Super 8 is a part of the RTG line of six-reel games that they've been pushing hard for a while. It's cool to see them step outside of the 5x3 norm, and the way they've incorporated high hit-rate gameplay and solid bonus features gives this title some extremely solid gameplay.
