With the Spinvasion video slot, you're getting an alien invasion-themed game with goofy graphics that look like something out of an early 1990s cartoon. They fit the concept of the game extremely well, and while they aren't necessarily top-tier in the general sense, they're a great way to present this game. You'll find particularly solid gameplay paired with a medium volatility to give you a great experience with chances to win prizes at all different levels.

Game Format

The first thing you'll notice is that there are five reels and three rows in this game, and the symbols are pushed very close to each other compared to most other slots. There are 50 paylines, and you do have the option to play with fewer than the maximum. However, that's a bad idea because it will lower the RTP of the game, and there are plenty of other betting options that will allow you to get your bet size down to as low as $0.50 per spin without having to play with fewer paylines.

Players can choose to bet up to 10 coins on each payline. You can also use coin sizes that go from $0.01 to $0.25 per spin, so it's easy to see how players can customize their betting options to a great degree.

Sticky Wild Symbols

The main feature that you'll get the most mileage out of during regular gameplay is the sticky wilds with re-spins. If you make a winning combination with a wild symbol, then it will become a sticky wild, and you'll get an extra re-spin with an increasing multiplier. You can continue to get re-spins with more sticky wilds, and the multiplier increases from 2x to 3x, 5x, 7x and 11x, as noted by the meter on the left side of the reels. This is the source of a whole lot of value, but it's worth noting that the wild symbols do not have their own payouts.

Free Spins Feature

If you get the general on the reels, then you'll pick up a set of 11 free spins. You do not get sticky wilds with re-spins during the free spin bonus round. However, what you do get is a slightly improved reel set with rocket symbols that pay well along with the drop feature. This allows symbols that create winning combinations to fall out of the way out of they pay to give you a chance for new symbols to fall into place to give you wins that you wouldn't have received otherwise.

Top-Tier Payouts

Five of the world symbol is the best regular payout without any multipliers in the game, and they pay out 250x for five of a kind. You can also score 125x for five of the intergalactic telephone, an obvious play on the telephone scene from the ET movie. Players can pick up 100x for five of the green alien egg, and during the free spins only, there's also a 100x prize for five rockets.

Mid-Tier Wins

There is also a set of mid-tier wins that are important in this game because they help to keep the volatility from getting out of hand. It all starts with the ray gun, which pays out 75x whenever you get five on an activated payline. Another important win is 50x for five of the meteor. A 33x payout is yours whenever you pick up five of the UFO symbol as well.

Low-Tier, Card Rank Pays

There are six card rank symbols that round out the bottom end of the pay table. Five of the green A symbol gives you 24x, and this drops to 21x for five of the red K. The blue Q symbol gives you 18x for five, five of the red J pays 15x, and you can earn 12x for five of the yellow ten. Five of the purple nine symbol pays 9x, which is one of the lowest pays we've ever seen in a slot for a five of a kind win, and that's a little troubling.

Overview

The theme of this game is solid, and the gameplay delivers. The only complaint we have about this game is that some of the five of a kind wins are really low with more than half of them in the game being 50x or lower. We understand that the pay table is distributed in a way to keep the volatility down, and we understand that the multipliers and features give players ways to win several times on the same spin. However, this is still disheartening for players in the sense that they could hit multiple five of a kind wins on different paylines and still lose money on the spin as a whole.
