Star of India is a 5 reel, fixed 20 pay line online slot game that was designed by WMS.  It includes; a Wild symbol, a Free Spins round, a Scatter symbol and a Hot, Hot Penny feature.

When we first heard about the Star of India slot game, we just assumed it would be a precious gemstone themed game, which was based upon the world famous 563.35 carat Star Sapphire named the Star of India.  

When the game loaded, it actually had an Indian theme, complete with traditional sitar music.  This was a lovely change to the awful carousel music that WMS tends to favour.

As this is one of WMS’s older slot games, the graphics are not cutting edge; however, they do feature some interesting details.  Symbols include; Peacocks, Lions, Elephants, a Sitar, Cups of Tea, the Taj Mahal, a Maharaja, a Maharani and a Diamond.

Betting Options

The Star of India slot game requires you to pay an additional forced wager of 10x your coin size for the games Hot, Hot Penny feature.  This doesn’t mean that the game has to cost you an arm and a leg though, as the minimum amount you have to spend per spin is $0.30.  The coin size can be changed all the way to $5, which means that maximum wager you can make is $150.

Slot Features

For some reason, the game features a Diamond instead of a Sapphire for the Star of India gemstone; however, you will be pleased as punch when this symbol makes an appearance in the game as it acts as the Wild.  This symbol can replace every other symbol in the game, excluding the Taj Mahal.

The games free spins round is triggered by getting three or more of the Taj Mahal symbols in any position on the games reels.  This automatically rewards 8 free spins on the reels; however, thanks to the games Hot, Hot Penny feature, you will also get to enter a pick and win feature to win additional free spins.  The number of picks you will receive depends on how many symbols you triggered the bonus round with.  For example; Four Taj Mahal symbols will get you four different picks.  When the pick and win feature is over, the free spins round will start.  Any winnings you pick up during the free spins round will also be tripled.

If you only get two Taj Mahal symbols on the reels, then the Hot, Hot penny feature will activate.  This will hold the two Taj Mahal symbols in position, as it re-spins the remaining reels for free.  This gives you an additional shot at triggering the games free spins round.
