A 3-reel virtual slot machine with Oriental theme isn’t exactly new, nor is there anything in particular exciting when it comes to Aspect Gaming Golden Dragon Club's appearance, but there is a wide betting range that helps you keep better control of your game, and generally speaking, what this release does, it does well.
No, not really. While Aspect Gaming presents this title as some sort of Oriental gem, the truth is that there isn’t all that much Oriental going on here.
Aside from the name being associated with the country of China, some stereotypical Chinese music blasting loudly, and a single golden dragon symbol that works as a Wild, nothing else has a semblance of Oriental style and culture. The background, for example, is a rather generic clouded night sky.
The slot machine itself, while being easy to follow, does appear a bit outdated in its design, first and foremost when it comes to the reels themselves, and the music, while fun at first, does tend to become a bit too much after a while. Game does ask you from the start whether you want to turn the music on or not, so, there’s that at least.
The game has 10 pay lines available. Minimal to maximum ranges bet from 0.1 to 5 on a single line, or rather 0.5 to 50 on all of them. Three currencies are available as well – American Dollar, Euro, and Pound Sterling.
When it comes to the auto spin option, it has several aspects to it. First of all, you can set a number of auto spins from 0 to 100. Secondly, you can set it to stop working when the loss exceeds a certain amount and the same option is available if the single win exceeds a certain amount.
Dashboard at the bottom is kept simplistic, displaying balance, total bet, and win, with the only adjustable option being the bet per line square. On the left, there is an "options" wheel, where you can learn all about how the game works.
Right below the video slot is a win track that keeps filling out as you play, which is a nice act of transparency, as it keeps you informed on your winnings and losses. Red ball for the win, yellow for the loss, and a blue one when the feature is triggered.
RTP of 94.17% is, in all honesty, much too low and volatility information, unfortunately, isn’t available at all.
There are some interesting features to be found. 3x3 layout is quite welcoming, though, as there are 10 different ways in which the symbols connect. Adding to that multipliers that are present in the form of Golden Dragon symbol, Sevens, and Bars symbol, there’s a chance for some high winnings.
Golden Dragon symbol acts as a Wild symbol, and, interestingly, there is also a Dragon Bonus Game, an additional game-within-a-game triggered when you collect four or more cherries in any position. If 4 cherries turn up on the reels, the player can win 2x to 20x total bet. This escalates depending on the number of cherries, final being the number of nine cherries that allow for a multiplication from 200x to 2000x total bet.
While somewhat disappointing in terms of RTP and not all that interesting in the visual sense, Golden Dragon Club does seem to focus more on functionality than style and we shouldn’t fault it for that. Especially since, some of the options appear to be very player-friendly, from the clearly displayed win track to the ability to control the auto spin.
