Fugaso is a company that understands how to use different approaches to slots, and the Graffiti Block Pays slot is a good example of that. It throws most of the rules that you'd typically think of for online slots out the window to create a different style of play. It's a game that uses a street style and skateboarding theme with a backdrop of a skate park, and your skater friend on the right-hand side (who is mysteriously only wearing one kneepad) will watch on as you shoot for the three progressive jackpots and other nice payouts.
Layout and Format
The grid of symbols used in this game is larger than most video slots. There are six vertical reels, and there are also five horizontal rows of symbols. The reels work normally, but the way the payouts are determined is not normal. We'll get into that down below.
Bet sizing is based on multiples of 20 coins per spin. This starts at the $0.20 per turn level with $0.01 coins. Coins can be made to be worth as much as $1 apiece, and you can multiply your wager by as much as a factor of 10, so the maximum bet is $200 per turn. That's obviously wide enough to be fine for the vast majority of players.
How Winning Combinations Are Determined
Paylines and winning ways are not used in this game. Instead, wins are based on blocks of matching symbols. A block is a set of symbols that match up that are connected adjacently either horizontally or vertically. If blocks are connected diagonally only without being connected in other ways, then it doesn't count for th purposes of this game.
You will need a block of at least nine symbols to get a win in this game. That sounds like a lot, but with 30 symbols showing at any given time and some other things that make it a bit easier to get matching symbols connected, it's a lot easier that it seems at first glance. With that having been said, you'll probably have to play the game and experience it for yourself to really understand what we mean.
The Clammy Wins Free Respin Feature
The vast majority of the gameplay in the Graffiti Block Pays online slot is centered around this one feature. The way it works is that getting any win will give you a re-spin for a chance to extend the size of your payout. All of the winning block or blocks will be held in place, and the rest of the symbols will spin. If you extend the size of your blocks in this way, then you'll continue to get re-spins until you have one where you don't add on to the size of a block. You will then be paid out based on the size of the final block, and that means you get wins that are bigger than you typically would on average without the feature. Bigger wins means bigger payouts.
Question Wild Symbol
You'll sometimes see a question mark block on the reels that looks somewhat like the one from the popular Mario video games. We don't think this was intentional. However, this is the wild symbol, but it acts a little differently than the wilds from more traditional games in the genre. It will only substitute for the single-largest payout block. This means it cannot count for multiple blocks. It can, however, become connected during the respin feature to expand the size of a block and award a new respin.
Free Spins Feature
You can earn free spins during this game with the free spins sign symbol. It can appear partially or completely to help trigger this free spins feature. You'll get between nine and 12 free spins for having three or more of this symbol anywhere on the game board on a regular spin.
Top Payouts
Because you can get wins for between nine and 30 symbols for seven different paying symbols in this game, there are a ton of ways to win. All of your pays are based on a multiple of your overall wager. The highest payout, other than the three random jackpots, is 10,000x for 30 of the tiger symbol. You can pick up 2,000x for 20 of it to give you an idea of the scale of the prizes. A whole lot of wins worth four-figures are available, but the 10,000x pay for 30 tigers is the only five-figure payout in the game.
Our Thoughts
Fugaso did a really cool thing by putting together the Graffiti Block Pays slot in the way they did. This is a title with excellent gameplay, and though the graphics are definitely mediocre at best, it's the play style that most players are going to remember. We really wish this game would have been made to look better, as many of their other titles do, but we still think there's an audience for the action-packed play style.
