Layout of the Slot

The layout of this slot uses 243 ways, a common format for Microgaming, across five reels and three rows. As far as betting goes, you can play for as little as $0.25 per spin and as much as $125 per spin. There are a ton of different increments available, so you can really hone in on the specific bet size that you want. This game has a medium volatility, so you'll probably want to use normal bet sizes or even slightly smaller ones than you're typically comfortable with until you get a feel for how the swings are.

Reel Respin Feature

After each spin, you'll notice that the respin symbols light up under each of the five reels. There will be a number listed under each of those buttons, and that's how much a respin of that reel will cost. These respins give you a chance to win new payouts, but they also cost more or less depending on the symbols that are on the reels and your chances of winning from hitting the spins. You also need to understand that only wins created from the respun reel's new symbols will pay out on a respin, so you can't trick the game into paying you over and over for something on the first three or four reels while you respin the fifth repeatedly.

Free Spins Bonus Round

Three or more of the scatter symbol, which we'll discuss below, will set you up with a set of 15 free spins in this game. Three, four or five scatters all give you the same number of free spins. These free spins do not have the Reel Respin feature available, but they do have a sizable 3x multiplier that is applied to all of your wins. This is a pretty cool, even though it's common, way to add some value to the bonus feature, and it makes a lot of the gameplay center around playing long enough to trigger this feature for a chance at the largest wins available in the game.

Scatters and Top Wins

The scatter symbol is the set of Chinese firecrackers, and you'll get $100 for five of them on the reels. This scatter pays out and awards free spins regardless of where they show up on the reels. Four of a kind also earns $10, and a $2 payout is good for three. You can win a $1 payout for just two anywhere on the reels, but two scatters will not trigger the free spins bonus round.

The yellow dragon and red dragon offer the two largest wins in the game. A $160 payout is yours for five of the yellow dragon, and five of the red and white dragon gives you a $100 win, which ties for the second-highest payout with five of the scatter. You can win for as few as two of a kind with these symbols, and they're the only symbols in the game like that other than the scatters.

Other Winning Combinations

Five of a kind of the two dancers gets you a win worth $80. Half of that is awarded for five of the guy playing the drums for a $40 payout, and that drops again to $20 for five of the woman in red in the parade.

The A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 symbols show up on the reels as well. The red A symbol earns $8, as does the yellow K, when you get five of a kind. Five of the Q or J earns $6, and five of the 10 or 9 gets you $4.

Overview

It's worth noting that I'm a little partial to dragons, in particular the red and white Chinese dragon that's the second-largest win in the game. With that having been said, this game does have adequate graphics and sound, and the payout structure is good with wins at all different levels. Even though the features are also great with the respins and free spins feature, the game itself isn't all that original, and there are other Microgaming titles that are nearly identical. It's a decent game, but Microgaming can definitely do better.
