Something missing from a lot of modern video slots is a pure focus on gameplay concepts. You'll often see a game based primarily around some flashy brand from various media like television, movies or books, or you'll see a slot that focuses almost completely on how "unique" it is because it has a new, or at least rare, format. With Lady Godiva by TopGame, however, everything focuses around the stacked symbols, including stacked wilds, and how they come together to dominate the gameplay and give you lots of chances to win big.
Game Format
Players will be very familiar with the layout of this game with its five reels, three rows and 20 paylines since that might be the most popular format for video slots in history. Players can choose between coin sizes of $0.01 to $0.50 each, and you can bet as many as five coins on each activated payline. You just need $0.20 per spin minimum to get in on the action, and that helps to make sure that a wide range of players are able to access this game. With that having been said, the theme of the game is a bit geared towards women, but don't let that keep you from playing if you like good gameplay and a solid value.
Wilds and Stacked Symbols
Every symbol always shows up stacked in this game. In fact, they often show up as what some software companies would call "super stacked" where they are stacked for several symbols in a row, not just three at a time. This includes the wild symbols, but the point here is that the gameplay is set up in a way where you'll have plenty of chances to hit multi-line wins. That's what drives the play the most in this game, and it's the reason why most of the top payouts seem relatively small. The idea here is that if you hit one big winning combination, like five of a kind, chances are that you've hit at least a few other winning combos to give you a bigger payout overall.
The wilds pay 400x for five of a kind. You can also earn 100x for four of a kind, and the 30x payout for three of a kind is also solid.
Regular Payouts
At the upper end of the regular payouts, you've got Lady Godiva herself with the red background, and she pays 100x for five of a kind. The prince on the blue background pays 50x for five, and you can get 30x for five of the boy in purple. A 25x win is granted when you get five of her white horse on an activated payline.
Something worth mentioning is that all four of these high-end symbols pay for anywhere from two of a kind to five of a kind. These two-of-a-kind wins set you up to have a much higher hit-rate than what you would normally find in a video slot, and they're worth pointing out because you'll get a lot of them on the reels during normal gameplay.
On the bottom end of things are four low-tier symbols. The red A symbol and the blue K grant payouts of 15x for five of a kind. You can also earn 13x for five of the purple Q or green J. All four of these symbols require at least three of a kind for a win.
Free Spins Bonus Feature
The scattered emblem doesn't offer its own payouts, but three or more will trigger a set of free spins for you. Before your feature begins, you get to pick between four options. Each option is a combination of a number of free spins and a multiplier. You can get 30 free spins with no multiplier, 15 free spins with a 2x multiplier, 10 free spins with a 3x multiplier or 5 free spins with a 6x multiplier. All for options have the same value overall, but the higher the multiplier you choose, the fewer free spins you get, and the higher your volatility will be for the bonus feature as a whole.
Our Thoughts
TopGame isn't known for putting out the most graphically advanced games, and Lady Godiva is an example of that lack of graphical finesse. The gameplay is nice with the stacked symbols, and it definitely sets the stage to have a lot of action (especially with the stacked wilds and two of a kind wins). On top of that, the free spins feature is cool because you get to customize it based on how many spins and what size multiplier you want. If you're the type of player who doesn't care as much about graphics as gameplay, you'll enjoy this title. However, if you can't stand sub-par graphics, then you'll want to stay away.
