Format and Layout

The paylines in this game are fixed, and since there are 40 of them, your bet sizes will be in multiples of 40 coins. You'll have chances to win across five reels and four rows of symbols, and the paylines pay left-to-right only.

Something that's pretty cool about this game is that you can actually wager as low as $0.20 per spin, and the max wager is $60 per spin. The minimum wager is like betting $0.005 per payline, which is a cool way to give players a lower bet size than they might otherwise receive.

Symbol Removal Respin Feature

The feature in Totem Lightning that you will see the most of is a respin feature that gives you a chance to pull low-end symbols off of the grid completely. The way this works is that a winning combination always give you a free chance to win with the winning symbols exploding to allow new symbols to fall in place to form new winning combinations.

However, if one of the five card rank symbols is what was used to make a winning combination that explodes off of the reels, then it is added to the "Removed" meter on the right-hand side of the reels, and it will not appear in the symbols that fall down to complete the respin. You can get multiple free chances to win in a row along these lines, and you can end up with multiple low-tier symbols being removed from the reels. This increases your chances of hitting winning combos for larger pays.

Lightning Strike Feature

After random spins, you can have low-tier symbols blasted off of the screen with lightning to give you better winning combinations. It's a cool way of incorporating the theme of the slot into the gameplay, and it's basically an excuse to give players bonus payouts they wouldn't have received otherwise.

Bonus Totem Multiplier Feature

There is a bright, golden bonus symbol that shows up on all five of the reels, and it will give you an opportunity to play a bonus round based on a golden totem pole. If you make it to the upper end of the pole during the feature, you can win 800x or 1,000x. This is multiplied by your total bet, so it's like getting a line bet wager of 3,200x or 4,000x in other games.

Top-End Payouts

There are four beautiful symbols that make up the top-end symbols in the game. They are crafted in a style that works for the totem pole theme, but they are done extremely well and are very visually appealing. The blue and gold eagle will give you 888x for a win of five of a kind. You can also pick up 388x for five of the panther in purple and gold. The gold and green meerkat gets you a 188x payout for five, and five of a kind in the red and gold crab pays 120x. These are all solid wins that give you enough to go on for several more spins for much longer sessions.

Card Rank Symbols

The card rank symbols are important because they can actually be removed from play with the respin removal feature. Five of the yellow Ace symbol gets you an 80x win, but five of the green K is still good for 60x. The Queen and Jack symbols pay 40x and 32x, respectively, as well. Finally, you can get 16x for five of the gray 10 symbol.

It's important to note that some of these payouts are pretty low. We aren't a fan of this type of thing, but it's balanced out by the way the features work in this game, so it's not the end of the world. Moreover, these five card rank symbols are stylized very well, and they're visually appealing enough that they fit the game perfectly.
