An online slot with mutant plants isn't something that you see every day, but that's exactly what Mrs. Green's Plant Emporium is all about. Saucify did a great job with the graphics in this game to the point that even the card rank symbols look tremendous, and the gameplay is fairly solid as well with a good mix of different features. There's a medium volatility and a reasonable hit-rate with a pay table that's relatively balanced, so it offers an experience that a lot of different types of players can enjoy.
Layout and Format
The layout this game uses sets players up to have a lot of different ways to get paid. There are 40 paylines spread across five reels with three rows of symbols. This is slightly atypical since most 40-payline video slots have four rows instead, for whatever reason. You can bet up to five coins per payline for a betting range of 40 to 200 coins per spin with all paylines activated.
It's important to keep all of the paylines turned on in this game. You can play with as little as just one line activated, but fewer than the max of 40 will lower your RTP percentage. Instead, take advantage of the coin sizes that go from $0.01 to $0.25 each for a total betting range of $0.40 on the minimum side to $50 per spin on the maximum end. This wide of a range of available bet sizes means that you'll always have a betting option that fits what you're comfortable with.
Wild Symbols
Mrs. Green herself is the wild symbol in this game. She always appears in a set of three symbols stacked on top of each other, so she's effectively a triple-high, stacked wild. In regular gameplay, she appears on the second and fourth reels only, but because she's always stacked, she gives you opportunities to hit several extra wins on the same spin, especially if you get more than one of her on the reels at once. You get more value from the wilds during the free spins mode, which we'll detail below, but it's important to realize she doesn't have her own payouts because she doesn't appear on all reels.
Free Spins Bonus Mode
The logo symbol for the game itself is actually the bonus symbol in this game. You'll see it show up on each of the five reels, but you only need three anywhere on the game board to get a set of free spins. Three of this symbol awards you 10 free turns, but four will give you 15. This kicks up to 20 with five of the logo symbol anywhere on the reels, and that's because the bonus symbol is a scatter as well.
All wins are doubled during this feature with a 2x multiplier, but that's not the only thing to get excited about. The stacked wild Mrs. Green symbol moves from being on the second and fourth reels to being on the first, third and fifth, which means a lot more value from the wild symbols. It's also important to note that you can re-trigger this feature if you get three or more bonus symbols at once to add to your total number of free spins.
Top-Level Payouts and Symbols
There are three plants you need to pay particular attention to. One is green with what appears to be a bit of red hair, and it's the top-paying one with a 2,000x payout that yours for a five of a kind win. Five of the purple plant with a green mouth gets you a solid 1,500x win, and you can get 1,000x for five of the kind of the blue plant that looks somewhat like a hand grenade.
Mid-Tier and Card Rank Prizes and Combinations
In the middle tier, there's a red plant with a yellow top that awards you 250x for five. Five-of-a-kind combinations of the glows give you 100x. You can also get 80x for five of the fertilizer bag or 50x for the watering can with a five-of-a-kind combo.
Players will find four different card rank symbols here as well, and they all appear in sets of vines and leaves like basic potted plants. For the A, you'll get 40x for five of a kind. Five of the K is good for 30x, and it's 20x for five of the Q or J symbols. We have to admit that these are some of the best-presented card rank symbols we can remember ever seeing.
In Summary
Saucify's Mrs. Green's Plant Emporium is solid in all areas, but it doesn't particularly stand out in any area either. It has great graphics, a fun and atypical theme, a valuable wild symbol and a decent free spins feature, but there's nothing that really sets it way apart from tons of other games out there in terms of overall gameplay. In spite of that, there is still plenty of fun to be had with it, and the experience it offers will appeal to a variety of players.
