Theme
Join Captain Kirk and the crew of the U. S. S. Enterprise in exploring new worlds all over the Universe.
After the amazing success of the first installment Star Trek: Red Alert, WMS Gaming decided to release a second title, and give players the opportunity to embark on another adventure with the legendary team.
The graphics are great and the background sounds are outstanding…
…but you also have the option to choose which of them you wish to hear. Every symbol has a unique animation, which activates when a winning combination is made and is accompanied with thrilling sound effects of lasers and futuristic tunes.
But…
…the only way to play the 2nd episode is if you earn 100 medals in the previous slot Star Trek: Red Alert.
The see-through reels are giving you a better view of the moving background, which creates an illusion of looking through the window of the famous spaceship which is flying fast between the stars and galaxies.
Betting options and symbols
The Episode 2 video slot is played on a 5-reel, 3 rows grid with 25 fixed pay-lines.
It also has a mandatory 10X line bet called “Feature Bet” as do many WMS Gaming slots. This means that if you’re betting 0.01 per line, the stake will be 25 lines X 0.01 plus 10 X 0.01 for a minimum bet of 0.35 $ per spin.
The highest bet per line is 3 $ meaning that the maximum bet per spin is 105 $ including the maximum mandatory “Feature bet”.
And…
…the symbols and the overall design of the game are really the same as in the original release.
Among the icons on the reels, you’ll find the insignia of the Starfleet personnel, Cpt. Kirk, first officer Spock, Doctor McCoy, a phaser gun, spaceship, and tricorder.
The highest paying is the Insignia, while the Star Trek Logo is the Wild, which can substitute for all other symbols bar the scatter, and help players in creating winning combos.
The Scatter is the icon marked as ‘Feature’ on the reels and is responsible for triggering the bonus rounds.
Special features
When landing 3 or more scatters, you’ll trigger the Beam Me Up bonus.
The bonus round takes you to a new alien planet.
First, you have to choose one of the five crew members to accompany you, and then you choose which objects you want to destroy with the phaser gun.
The destroyed object will reveal either a cash prize…
…or pick another crew member option that will help you. Also, there are some scary looking aliens under some of those objects, and if you pick that object to destroy, the alien will come out and end the feature.
The important thing is that only by activating this bonus feature can you collect the medals, so that you are able to play the next installment in the series.
Conclusion
Overall, it’s a slot with great graphics and a unique bonus feature.
The sci-fi theme is always trending, especially if you combine it with a cult TV franchise, like Star Trek. The soundtrack is exciting and improves the gaming experience. The fact that you cannot play Episode 2 without collecting enough medals during Episode 1, requires true dedication, but Star Trek fans are nothing but dedicated!
