Hunting Party is a video slot by Booongo that features a sort of hunting theme. It's not clear exactly what the characters in this game are hunting, but they're definitely looking to shoot something with their trusty hound dogs in tow. The graphics of this game are very good, as is the case with virtually all games by this software developer, and the pay schedule is a bit different than usual, which makes for fun gameplay.
Placing bets in this game is based on the fact that it's a five-reel, three-row title with 20 static paylines that you can't change. You can pick a variety of wager sizes per spin that start with $0.20 and work their way up to $100 per turn, and with a lot of options in between, you'll have no problem with finding the right bet size for your own bankroll management strategy. Betting is also made simple since you only adjust your total bet size instead of having the ability to change the number of coins on each payline or the number of paylines themselves.
Free Spins Feature
There are two different symbols that are made up of the three members of the hunting party in this game. The scatter shows up on all five reels, and it gives you an opportunity to win free spins. You can earn 15, 20 or 25 free spins with three, four or five of this symbol anywhere on the reels, regardless of whether it's left-to-right or not. There are no multipliers or extra goodies in the free spins feature, but it's still a sizable chunk of value that you get for free.
The Hound Scatter Symbol
The hound is a pretty important symbol in this game, and as with any type of hunting that involves dogs, everything centers around his behavior. If you get at least two of this dog anywhere on the reels, you'll pick up a payout based on a multiple of your total bet size. Two of them gets a 5x win, which would be worth a 100x line bet payout, so it's easy to see how it's a valuable symbol to have show up on the reels.
Three hounds award player a 10x payout, and it jumps up to 15x for four. You can make that 20x for five of this canine, which would be like a 400x line bet payout, so those are all sizable scores that any player will be happy to have.
Hunting Bonus Feature
A special hunting bonus feature can be had if you get three or more of the bonus bear symbol on the same payline. This is a luck-based, second screen game that gives you an opportunity to run up some more winnings to your account balance. It's just another way to get paid that fits in with the theme of the game, so we can't argue with it.
The leader of the Hunting Party slot has a shotgun and a hat on with a mean mustache, and he's the main non-scatter symbol. Five of a kind awards you a 750x win. Five of the duck, which is presumably what we're hunting here, gets you 500x. Either of these two symbols will win with two of a kind or more, so you get a bit of a bump to your hit-rate as a result. The binoculars and backpack pay 500x or 250x for five, respectively, but they need at least three for you to get a payout.
Bottom End of the Pay Schedule
Rounding out the available pays are the card rank symbols, and they're stylized to fit the font of the title of the game. Five of the A earns 200x, and five of the K will get you 150x. A 100x prize is yours for five of the Q or J, and it's clear from how all of these payouts are structured with a balanced pay table that this game aims to have a low volatility. It manages to do that for the most part.
We don't see many slots in the industry based on hunting or outdoors themes that much, so Booongo's Hunting Party slot is a nice change of pace in that regard. The use of a paying scatter with the hound and multiple bonus features adds a lot of excitement to the gameplay here, and the pay table itself is balanced enough that you don't have to worry about the swings getting out of control. This is an entertaining game that we think many players will find enjoyable, and it's strong enough from a visual standpoint that it can stand up with the best games out there today in terms of graphics as well.
