The typical format for most video slots is five reels with three rows. Occasionally you'll see a video slot with four or even five rows, but it's rare that you see one that uses a different number of reels. The Lucky 6 game by Realtime Gaming breaks the convention a bit by offering a six-reel experience, and the features and payout levels that come through as a result of the atypical format make a lot of sense. The graphics are of a decent enough level in this game, but it's really the format itself that carries most of the gameplay.
This title has six reels with three rows for a fairly atypical layout for a video slot. There are 10 paylines in this game, which seems a bit low considering there are so many reels. You can play with fewer than 10 paylines if you want, but we suggest that you keep it at 10 so that all of the features stay activated and you keep your RTP as high as possible. Bet sizes are as low as $0.10 per spin, which reflect $0.01 coins on each payline, and they go up to $25 per spin, which would be like having a coin size of $2.50. This is a fairly wide betting range, but high rollers might wish there were bet sizes that are somewhat larger, though that affects a small minority of players.
The rainbow symbol in this game is a wild, but it also acts as a multiplier. If you get at least one wild multiplier in a winning combination, you'll double the size of your win. This adds a whole lot of value to the game, and that's especially the case since there are several winning combinations that only require two of a kind to win. That in and of itself is pretty atypical and unexpected considering that there are six reels in this game, so you'd expect all symbols would require a minimum of three of a kind.
The largest regular payout in the game is 10,000x for six of the pot of gold using at least one wild multiplier. If you don't use a wild, it's worth 5,000x instead. Other top wins include 2,500x for six of the Leprechaun (5,000x with a wild), 1,250x for six of the wishing well (2,500x with a wild) and 1,000x (2,000x with a wild) for either five of the pot of gold or six of the shamrock. Six of the horseshoe or rabbit both earn 1,000x with a wild included, and you can get 600x for six of the mushroom or diamond ring with a wild.
Atypical Scatters and Feature
The scatters in this game are pretty atypical. They are the letters L-U-C-K-Y and the number 6, and they occur in that order across each of the six paylines. Four or more left-to-right or right-to-left will trigger a bonus feature, and you get an enhanced feature if three of them line up on the first three or last three reels. The scatters themselves pay 30x for six, 10x for five, 3x for four and 2x for three, and these are all multiples of your total bet size.
In the free spins bonus feature, you'll get eight free spins with a 2x multiplier applied to all of your wins. However, you can also get extra grouped wilds, extra wilds, the multiplier kicked up to the 5x level and more based on which of the scatter symbols you get to activate the bonus feature. In the enhanced feature, you'll earn 12 free spins instead, and you get lots of extra wilds and multipliers and other goodies along similar lines.
Lucky 6 is a game that has an atypical format, but RTG has done a good job by not just letting the fun in this game stop there. The way that the grouped wild multipliers come together to give you chances for bigger wins adds a lot to the gameplay, and the atypical approach for how the scatters award the feature is also nice. Overall, this is a game that probably has quite a bit of replay value, and it shows that Realtime Gaming is capable of stepping outside of the box while still offering solid graphics and some serious prizes with the 10,000x top win in this game in regular play that jumps up to a whooping 50,000x during certain free spins opportunities.
